CARE INSTRUCTIONS
YOUR WOOLLEN ITEMS WILL LAST A LIFETIME IF YOU TREAT THEM RIGHT.
How to take care of our products:
GENERAL WOOL CARE
DO NOT TUMBLE DRY | DO NOT DRY IRON | DO NOT WASH WARM | DO NOT SPIN | DRY FLAT
DID YOU KNOW…
for a general refresh, all you need is sunlight, a washing line and a good breeze to clean your items. Wool really is naturally self-cleaning!
PLEASE NOTE:
Any items that have not been treated in accordance with the specifically recommended care instructions given here, will unfortunately not be eligible for refund or exchange.
PLEASE DO GET IN TOUCH BEFORE WASHING YOUR ITEM, IF YOU ARE AT ALL UNSURE.
We recommend that all of our cashmere items are cold hand-washed in a special cashmere detergent, as this is gentler for the fibres. Folding cashmere scarves after use will also protect their fibres and prolong their life.
All of our socks, be they bamboo, mohair or wool, are machine washable, with instructions given on the individual item’s packaging. Please don’t wash above the recommended temperature or you risk shrinkage!
For the very best results, McNutt recommend dry cleaning. However, pure wool and lambswool can be machine washed on a wool setting only at 30°C. Reshape after washing if necessary. Do not tumble dry!
Machine-wash at 30°C (preferably without fabric conditioner), and iron on a cotton or linen setting (although we feel part of linen’s beauty lies in its soft creases, so we skip this step). You can tumble dry, but don’t dry-clean or bleach.
All Bronte throws and accessories are made from 100% wool, and they therefore recommend that they are professionally dry-cleaned.
However, since all our other throw manufacturers advise that their throws can be washed on a cold machine cycle with no spin, we have carried out our own wash tests on Bronte throws. We found no adverse effects of doing so, however, this is only our experience and we can’t officially recommend this as it goes against Bronte’s (and therefore unfortunately our) returns policy.
If you do decide to wash your Bronte throw or scarf at home, you should use only a mild detergent, rinse thoroughly, but do not wring or tumble-dry your item under any circumstances ~ simply dry flat or drip dry on the line.
The recommended washing instructions for all Tweedmill pure wool items is a cold wash – either by machine or by hand – before line drying, and no artificial heat!
